Dentures are removable replacement teeth, custom-made to restore your ability to eat and speak comfortably when several or all natural teeth are missing — a practical, well-established option, especially when implants aren't suitable or affordable for every missing tooth.

Complete dentures replace an entire upper or lower set of teeth, used when no natural teeth remain in that arch. Partial dentures fill in gaps while clipping onto your remaining natural teeth, and are a less invasive, more affordable alternative to a fixed bridge for some patients. Which fits your situation depends on how many teeth remain and their condition.
The process involves taking careful impressions and bite measurements to ensure your dentures fit comfortably and function well, followed by a fitting appointment where adjustments are made for comfort. A short adjustment period is normal — dentures usually feel slightly unfamiliar at first, and speaking and eating comfortably with them improves with a little practice.
Removing and cleaning them daily, along with regular checkups, keeps both the denture and your remaining gum tissue healthy. Over time, as your gums and jawbone naturally change shape, dentures may need relining or adjustment to keep fitting well — this is a normal part of long-term denture care, not a sign anything went wrong.
Dr. Dhara Patel takes the time to get the fit and bite right, since a poorly fitted denture is uncomfortable and hard to live with day to day. Read more about Dr. Patel's credentials and experience.
