Retina Treatment in Ahmedabad

The retina is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye, and problems here — from diabetic damage to detachment risk — need prompt, accurate diagnosis, since delayed retina treatment can mean permanent vision loss.

Retina Treatment

Conditions we evaluate and treat

Retina care covers a wide range of conditions: diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and tears, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, and floaters or flashes that need to be checked to rule out something more serious. A dilated retinal examination, often including fundus photography to document and monitor the retina over time, is the starting point for almost all of these.

Laser treatment

Laser photocoagulation is a well-established retina treatment, delivering focused light energy to seal leaking blood vessels or shrink abnormal new vessels. It's performed in-office with the patient seated at the laser, usually painless or mildly uncomfortable, and vision is typically blurry for the rest of the day afterward.

Injections and other treatments

For conditions involving fluid leakage or abnormal blood vessel growth, anti-VEGF injections into the eye can slow or reverse the process. These are done under topical anaesthetic in the office and are generally well tolerated. More advanced cases, such as retinal detachment or significant bleeding, may need surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sudden floaters, flashes of light, a shadow or curtain across part of your vision, or sudden blurred or distorted vision are all signs that need prompt evaluation — some retinal conditions, like retinal detachment, are time-sensitive emergencies.
Yes. A retinal detachment needs urgent treatment, ideally within days, to give the best chance of preserving vision. If you notice a sudden shadow, curtain, or significant increase in floaters and flashes, contact us immediately rather than waiting.
Not always — occasional floaters are common and often harmless, especially with age. But a sudden increase in floaters, especially combined with flashes of light, should always be checked to rule out a retinal tear or detachment.
Through a dilated retinal examination, often supported by fundus photography to document the retina in detail and track changes over future visits.
It depends on the condition and how early it's caught. Some retinal treatments can halt or slow further damage and preserve remaining vision, but tissue already lost typically cannot be restored — which is why prompt evaluation matters.
This depends on your individual risk factors. Diabetics, high myopes, and anyone with a family history of retinal disease are generally advised to have more frequent dilated exams than the general population.
