The retina is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye, and problems here — from diabetic damage to detachment risk — need prompt, accurate diagnosis, since delayed retina treatment can mean permanent vision loss.

Retina care covers a wide range of conditions: diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and tears, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, and floaters or flashes that need to be checked to rule out something more serious. A dilated retinal examination is the starting point for almost all of these.
Laser photocoagulation is a well-established retina treatment, delivering focused light energy to seal leaking blood vessels or shrink abnormal new vessels. It's performed in-office with the patient seated at the laser, usually painless or mildly uncomfortable, and vision is typically blurry for the rest of the day afterward.
For conditions involving fluid leakage or abnormal blood vessel growth, anti-VEGF injections into the eye can slow or reverse the process. These are done under topical anaesthetic in the office and are generally well tolerated. More advanced cases, such as retinal detachment or significant bleeding, may need surgery.
