Basic pre-operative blood work (fasting/post-prandial blood sugar, blood pressure check, HIV & HBsAg testing) is standard for every patient — let your doctor know about any other existing conditions or medications you're taking, since this can affect both your surgical plan and lens power calculation.
Monofocal spheric is the most economical option and has the longest clinical track record. Aspheric designs (both regular and yellow/blue-light-filtering variants) offer improved contrast sensitivity, particularly useful at night. Enhanced monofocal lenses add meaningfully better intermediate (computer-distance) vision on top of the reliable distance vision monofocals are known for.
