Tips for using eye drops

  • Wash your hands first. Do not let the bottle tip touch the eye or lashes.
  • Leave at least 5 minutes between different drops. If one is an ointment, use it last.
  • Shake suspension drops (white, milky drops such as prednisolone acetate) well before each use.
  • Close your eye gently for 1–2 minutes after each drop; this keeps more medicine in the eye.
  • If you miss a dose, put it in when you remember, then continue as normal. Do not double up.
