Eye Health, in Rhyme

On Cataract

"

The riper the cataract, the harder the cure,

Don't wait for it to fully mature.

"

It's not a fruit that needs full ripening time,

Waiting too long makes recovery a climb.

"

Cataract surgery — a one-time affair,

Think twice before choosing “cheapest” with care.

"

If lights scatter and haze your night drive view,

It's likely cataract — get it checked, it's due.

"

Done with one eye? Don't wait too long for the next,

A week or two apart keeps recovery in context.

On Pterygium

"

The longer you wait to remove that growth,

The deeper the mark it leaves on your sight — that's the truth.

On Glaucoma

"

Glaucoma sneaks in with no pain, no sign,

“I see fine” is no reason to skip the line.

"

Like diabetes and blood pressure, it's silent and slow,

It stays for life once it starts to grow.

"

Never feel shame that glaucoma is yours,

Keep the drops daily — that's the one rule that endures.

On Red Eyes

"

Red eyes come in many different kinds,

Don't self-treat — leave the diagnosis behind.

"

Itchy, watery eyes when seasons change,

It's just allergy — nothing too strange.

Resist the urge to rub and scratch,

Rubbing only worsens this seasonal batch.

On Spectacle Numbers

"

Minus for far, plus for near — the rule of thumb,

But it's not always that simple, so don't just assume.

"

Old glasses sitting unused in a drawer,

Could light up someone else's world once more.

Donate them at the clinic, let them serve again,

A small act of yours can ease another's strain.

On Digital Eye Strain

"

Keep two feet of distance from your screen,

Block the blue light, protect what's between.

Every hour, take a five-minute break,

Your eyes need rest — for their own sake.

"

Hours on mobiles and screens each day,

Raises the risk of numbers going astray.

Send them outside, into the sun's embrace,

Nature does more for eyes than any screen-based place.

On Doctor & Patient

"

A movie ticket often costs more than a checkup fee,

Yet people grudge doctors that easily.

One brings you joy, one takes away pain,

A doctor's fee is his bread — don't begrudge the gain.

"

Apply the drop without touching your eye,

Follow the doctor's schedule — don't ask why.

"

Red eyes with discharge — don't self-medicate,

See a doctor before it's too late.

"

Don't let the cost of surgery hold you back,

Insurance and installments fill that gap.

"

Once a bottle's opened, a month's the limit to use,

An old half-full bottle is one you should refuse.

Some drops need the fridge, don't leave them out too long,

Follow what the doctor said — that's never wrong.

"

If one doctor's advice doesn't sit quite right,

Ask another — it's your right, not a fight.

But don't let the search drag on for too long,

Delaying a decision can prove more wrong.

On Diabetic Retinopathy

"

If diabetes has been with you for years,

Get your retina checked — don't wait for tears.

"

Vision can be fine while damage creeps in slow,

Diabetic eye disease is a silent foe.

On Dry Eyes

"

Eyes feel gritty, burn, and water too,

Regular drops bring relief to you.

On Children's Eye Care

"

Check a child's eyes before school begins,

Delay in glasses only delays their wins.

"

If a child's eye turns inward or strays,

Don't laugh it off — treat it in early days.

"

One eye sees less, the other does all the work,

Untreated early, that gap won't budge or shirk.

Before age six is when treatment works best,

Delay makes correction a much harder test.

"

If red and green seem to blend as one,

Get it checked before school life has begun.

"

Born too early, weighing far too light,

Needs a special check to protect their sight.

The retina's growth may still be incomplete,

Early screening helps that risk retreat.

On Squint Surgery

"

Squint surgery's timing depends on the age,

Early in kids clears the visual stage.

Adults too can correct a lifelong squint,

There's no shame in fixing what childhood left in print.

On Sunglasses & UV

"

Step into the sun, wear shades that guard,

UV rays cause damage that's slow but hard.

On Regular Checkups

"

Past forty, make it a yearly affair,

Catch small problems before they're a bigger scare.

On LASIK

"

Tired of glasses fogging up your face?

LASIK can free you — no more nose-bridge trace.

On Contact Lenses

"

Wear your lenses, but hygiene comes first,

Sleeping in them can make things worse.

On Foreign Body / Chemical Injury

"

Something in your eye? Don't rub it in fear,

Rushing to a doctor keeps your vision clear.

"

Chemical splash in the eye — don't delay,

Rinse with water for fifteen minutes, then get away

To a doctor fast, don't waste more time,

Quick action here prevents a bigger crime.

On Eye Safety

"

Light your crackers with glasses on your face,

One careless second can leave a lifelong trace.

If a spark lands in the eye, rinse with water first,

Don't try home remedies before the worst.

"

Play with colors, but shield your eyes,

Chemical colors bring corneal surprise.

"

Weld with goggles, never skip that gear,

UV damage shows up slow, not clear.

Working fields kicks up dust and grit,

Protective glasses help you outlast it.

"

Monsoon season brings infections that spread,

Dirty water near the eyes is to be dreaded.

Redness or discharge that won't subside,

See a doctor — don't let it slide.

"

Heading for a swim? Don't forget your goggles,

Chlorinated water in the eyes causes struggles.

"

Stepping out where dust and smoke collect,

Wearing glasses gives your eyes some protection.

On Eye Donation & Cornea Transplant

"

Long after you're gone, your eyes can still see,

Through someone else's world, lit differently.

"

When the cornea clouds and vision grows dim,

A transplant can restore the sight within.

One donated eye, two lives made bright —

A single gift restoring double sight.

On Floaters & Retinal Detachment

"

Flashes of light, a curtain closing in view,

Retina detaching — act fast, it's true.

Floaters that suddenly multiply and swarm,

Don't dismiss them — get checked, avoid the harm.

"

Black specks drifting when you look at the sky,

Usually harmless as the years go by.

But a sudden surge, or flashes that appear,

Means it's time to get your retina checked, my dear.

On Presbyopia

"

Struggling to read past your fortieth year?

It's natural aging — nothing to fear.

On Eye Makeup & Hygiene

"

Wear your mascara, but remove it at night,

Leftover makeup invites infection to bite.

On Common Myths

"

“Wait till it ripens” — that old belief is outdated,

Small cataracts today are safely operated.

Operating one eye won't harm the other one,

Both eyes work independently, second to none.

On Macular Degeneration

"

Straight lines look bent, or a spot blocks the view,

Age-related — early checkups can help you.

On Keratoconus

"

Numbers climbing fast, glasses can't quite clear,

Keratoconus could be the reason here.

Stop rubbing your eyes, especially at night,

That habit alone can worsen your sight.

For Senior Citizens

"

Half of home falls trace back to poor sight,

Get that cataract removed and reclaim your fight.

"

Age is never a reason to say no,

Surgery at eighty still helps eyes glow.

On Night Blindness

"

Vision fades as evening turns to dark,

Vitamin A deficiency could be the mark.

Eat your greens and carrots, keep the diet right,

Small changes now protect tomorrow's sight.

On Minor Eye Symptoms

"

A twitching eye isn't a sign of luck or doom,

It's tiredness or lack of sleep — rest in your room.

If it persists for weeks without a break,

Get it checked — sometimes it's more than fatigue's sake.

"

A sudden red patch appears out of nowhere,

No need to panic — it's usually just a small tear.

Coughing, sneezing, or blood pressure's the cause,

It fades in two weeks, following nature's laws.

Still, get it checked and your blood pressure read,

Sometimes a small sign points to something ahead.

"

Eyes appearing to bulge, lids that won't fully close,

Thyroid could be affecting more than one supposes.

"

Crust builds along the eyelid's edge each night,

Warm compresses each morning set it right.

"

Zigzag lines or flashes before the head starts to pound,

That's often migraine aura — no cause for alarm found.

But the first time it happens, get it checked with care,

Just to rule out other reasons that light show is there.

On Eye Care During Pregnancy

"

Blood pressure through the eyes can be seen and checked too,

Diabetes or hypertension? Get your retina reviewed.

Your number may shift a little during this time,

That's normal — new glasses can wait till after, not a crime.

Once delivery is done and things settle down clear,

That's when you update your glasses, no need to fear.

On Stye (Eyelid Bump)

"

A swollen, painful bump appears on the lid,

It's just a stye — a common infection, nothing hid.

Don't try to pop it yourself, resist that urge,

Doctor's treatment and patience will make it submerge.

On Post-Op Care

"

Keep dust and dirt away from the eye,

Let no water enter till healing is nigh.

Follow the drop schedule the doctor gave,

Missing a checkup is a risk, not a save.

On Deciding to Get Surgery

"

Caring for parents' eyes is a child's first duty,

A small investment protects lasting beauty — of sight, not vanity.

Ask your parents when they last had a check,

Don't let neglect put their vision at wreck.

"

You spend without thought on a car or a home,

Why hesitate when it's eyes of your own?

On Not Falling for Free Camp Traps

"

Free checkups tempt with a five-minute scan,

But a rushed exam can't catch a real problem, no plan.

"

A proper exam checks pressure and the retina too,

No free camp has that kind of time for you.

"

Cheap isn't always the smarter way,

Your eyesight's worth more than what you save today.
